Because so much of the rural southeast lives and works on or near Central Romana's land, the company runs an unusually large set of direct social programs, by its own account. It says it has provided rent-free basic housing to more than 5,000 employees, with interest-free financing available for further construction; built 369 multi-unit residences for single workers; and made 5,372 homes available rent-free in "batey" agricultural communities, all with access to potable water and electricity. Roughly 400 additional employees live in company-owned houses or apartments at no rental cost.

​The company also states that it provides  education and health services in these communities, though it does not publish detailed enrollment or patient figures alongside those claims on its public site. Central Romana is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact, committing to stated principles on human rights, labor standards, environmental responsibility, and anti-corruption.
