OPERATIONS & SCALE

A modernized mill on the southeastern coast

CAEI's main facility sits at Calle Elizardo Dickson No. 1, El Guano, San Pedro de Macorís. During the 2016–17 harvest, the Cristóbal Colón mill processed roughly 1.37 million tons of cane — drawn from both company-owned fields and independent supplier ("colono") farms — into 131,816 metric tons of sugar, at the time a record for the mill following five straight years of growth from about 56,000 metric tons in 2011.

More recent company-reported figures put total CAEI output at 145,420 metric tons for 2019. The company also operates related commercial entities under the CAEI umbrella, including Cristal de Caña, a biomass energy operation, and agricultural land management through La Finca. See CAEI's own pages on its productsmilling processes, and technology for further detail.
